What's so special about throwing a 530 into a pickup? I can see for the sake of having something different & bigger then everyone else & I won't fault you for that. However there isn't really an "aftermarket" for the 530 programming wise. I know the 8.3L Cummins with the vp44 can get a firetruck tune & put down around 400hp+. SmokyRed's boss has an 8.3L in his Superduty but he's also running rock wells IIRC.

im not thinking about it for making big horsepower and torque but more so for having something different, durability, and towing ability. plus the engine is not costing me that much if i want to buy it

If you want the tow ability of the 530 then you should get a truck made for a 530. Before you think of big engine for heavy loads think about the brakes and chassie strength before power.

:whs: If your wanting a better tow rig go with a lo pro freightliner/international/ext. The first time you have to make a panic stop with a loaded gooseneck doing 70mph in a med duty you'll be glad you weren't hauling the same load with a 7000lb pickup.

Not 100% the same but you can get an idea. Here's a dt466 stuffed in an F-Superduty.

I'm guessing the frames are different between the obs f250/350s and the F-Superduty's but you can see how much firewall fab work went into it.

Yeah, you'd need a pretty good size doghouse to make that fit. Looks like the back 2 cylinders are fully in the cab. Would probably be a pita to work on if anything went wrong, but it's definitely doable.

and the electronic DTs have a much wider valve cover than the mechanical ones other than that they are about the same physical size. the 530 and 466 are about the same size
