Receiver Hitch grease?

This probably sounds like a noob question, but here goes. I took off my receiver hitch from my 2004 F250 because it was rusting. I noticed it had some kind of grease where it made contact with the truck. I just finished painting it. I want to put it back but not sure what kind of grease needs to go it. Thanks for the help

Welcome to the army from a neighbor. Honestly I have never put grease on my hitch but I would say a good bearing grease would be fine.

If its on the ball, I use what I grab first, bearing grease, penetrating grease, etc. If it is the part inside the receiver I dont put anything on it.

Are you talking about between the hitch in the frame rails of the truck?
