about a month ageo the truck started running crappy at idle
it ran fine down the road, but at idle it cackeled, and sputtered

i put in some diesel and some additive
changed the fuel filter and it smothed out

i have been running w85 ever since with no problems

this weekend i went on a road trip
up to the mountains about 600 mi round trip
it atarted running poorley at low speeds
but once i got ip going it pulled like a freight train
up those very steep very long mountains

get up the next day, start it up and it's smokeing like a chimney (real bad)
again add diesel and it smooths out

so comming home im mixing 20 gal w85 to 10 gal diesel
and again it pulls like a freight train (just awsome)

now im home and again it's smokeing terrably
put in diesel but now the smoke wont go away
at idle it just smokes horrable.
at freeway speeds if im gentel with the pedel
it barley puffs at all.
if i mash it,the road in the mirror disappeares

anywaythe smoke was white most of the time
im thinking 15-40 used wmo
a 13 micron fuel filter and sucking to close to the bottom
all added up to me getting nasty dirty, watery, product

but hells im not sure
that why i typed out my whole experence with this stuff
maybe someone knows something i dont
david

ps.i was useing my chip in the 60 hp tow mode

White smoke usually indicates a plugging fuel filter.

how does a plugged fuel filter make it smoke white ??
smoke it not enoughf air or too much fuel
so a plugged filter makeing it smoke is a mystery to me

please explain

white smoke would indicate a lean condition if i remember correctly, black smoke is a rich condition. Mine will black smoke a bit more if i get after it hard, and occationaly after a hard pull if I let off abruptly it will give a puff of haze, nothing major.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but it sounds kind of odd. Try adding some Sea Foam. Whenever I have any small gas or diesel issues this stuff usually clears it right up. Not sure if it will help, but it's worth a shot.

It seems the PSD trucks will run lean if the filter clogs and blow white smoke, a filter change usually clears it up based on the other threads I've read on the subject. My IDI just loses power and has no top end. Have you changed any filters since starting W85?

ok,i hot treated it with sea foam

warmed up the truck
pulled the filter and drained the bowl
added sea foam
installed new filter
ran for 1 minnit
let it sit for 5 minnits
them romped the sh!t out of it for 5 miles

seems about 80 percent better
white smoke is gone
still sluggish at take off
still sounds wrong,(some new noise)
and the egt gague still climbs real aesy, and dosent come down very fast at idle
like it used to.

i suspect i have one or more over fueling some how
ima have my genious diesel buddy take a listen tommarro.

ill let you know..

i just gotta get a 1 micron filter from somewhere

I'm a huge fan of Baldwin high efficiency filters as a final filter. So good I had to use finer stringwounds in front of it because it would clog in half a batch. Using 1 micron strings now and getting really clean fuel.
