Okay so my frame is rusted where the hitch and bumper bolt on and talked to a welder buddy and he said instead of trying to fix that rust just put a flatbed on it with the hitch on the flatbed. So I'm gonna build my own. I also plan on putting my gooseneck back in. I want to do it as cheap as possible. Anybody built there own before? My buddy would do all the welding.

If your buddy has fabrication skills, buy a used one and modify it to fit you truck. You may be able to find one that just needs the mounting brackets ground off and new ones made.
I see them selling used for $600-$1200 around here all the time depending on the condition and options.

I found a nice one here on Craigslist for 500. So they aren't universal? How hard is it to weld now brackets on? I just have to find one with a receiver on the bed because my truck came from Ohio and right where the hitch and bumper bolts on is rusty.
