Anyone ever built anything to fit in there? I have no need for the spare that is there, would like to have a small toolbox or something there that fits and looks good.

Anything?

Ya, not interested in a sub. Three kids in the rig most times, the stereo doesnt even get turned on, the second you do, someone starts talking.

What are the dimensions?
Seems like a 50 gallon drum, cutoff wheel, welder and a coat of paint could make a decent little toolbox to fit in there.

Thats a little more ghetto then I want in my wife's Excursion...

I'm thinking MDF, then some fabric to match. Just something to hold a nice socket set and some little parts. Maybe a small break down rifle...

I suppose that depends on who's behind the cutoff wheel and welder.
If the dimensions were roughly the same it wouldn't take much to cut a section out of the drum and weld a circle of 3/16" plate on either end. Would be fairly easy to incorporate a hing and lock as well.

But that's just me. I'm not much for wood working so metal is my go-to.

My wife's trunk is a bit hogged , where you hiding the spare Joe ?

Dont need a spare.

A 37 wont fit in there anyway and in 1.5 million miles I've never had a flat I could not get home on... Well one time, but it was about a mile from my house.

I am working on a computer based entertainment system that will be stored in that area. I plan to build an enclosure around it with ventilation fans once I get the entire system laid out.

Once I get it all up and running I will. Will be a little while though as I have a little one on the way and getting ready for that is the first priority

A storage for tools and a emergency kit and I like the fold up rifle idea.
you could make it look pretty good with some matched carpet.
