Hey guys. I'm a newbie here. I've had a diesel before,2001 ram 2500. Loved it put 225k miles on it before I sold it. It was a simple engine. Just diesel additive every other tank and fuel filter one a year. I've been out of the game for a while and haven't kept up with the new technology and emissions. What are a few things you guys do with your trucks on a weekly/monthly/yearly basis.
I just bought a 2011 f250 lariat with 42000 miles. This thing is amazing. Love it already

Put fuel in it, id add ford performance cetane improver to.the fuel if it were mine and a play/dd/toy truck. For work, nothing.

Before you jump me my work trucks are duramaxes. Ive had a 03gmc 2500, an 07 classic(old body style), a early 08 silverado, an 11 silverado, and now a 12 silverado. They get fuel, oil.changes, and def added for.fluids. Nothing else. I do carry white power services for winter cause.these things seem to.gel easily.

Im not sure where the idea lies but my personal.drivers get fancy oils, fuel.additives for performance, and more thorough maintenance. The work trucks get.bought brand new and the wheels run off. We're talking 200k in four or less years. All with no real extra being done.

Edit:I see you bought a used truck. Id change ALL the fluids right away. Front to back. Then you'll know whats what.

i would recommend a full synthetic oil and only fill halfway between the min. and max. marks on the dipstick which will
1. increase fuel economy
2. use less DEF
3. go longer between drains
4. fewer oil leaks in the future
5. engine lasts longer

MAINTENANCE can't stress that enough. If you change your oil yourself make sure you have a long oil pan because when you pull the plug out it will shoot way out LOL found out the hard way.

That would take all of the excitement out of it!

For some reason after your oil change for about a 1000 miles, these damn 11 tick and ping. Once the oil wears in it goes away.
