Transmission Temperature............???

A buddy of mine with a new 2013 F250 pointed this out to me the other day so I checked it on my 2012.

Driving around town without a load the transmission temp reading is between 192-196 degrees. On my 1999 this would have been considered borderline high for the conditions.

What are y'all seeing?

Should we be concerned?

No, you should not be concerned. This trans has a thermostat, your 1999 did not.

Your good to go buddy mine is right there 192-194 And 198-99 pulling hills.

What is the "worry temp" point for the 6R mark?

i dont think the worry mark is trans specific, its the seals, and thats 220+ , i know 240 is when the seals are fubar'd .

...and I know the seals are good for at least 250°F. I've tested earlier transmissions as high as 320°F and didn't damage any seals.

I don't know the temp limits on this trans. It didn't exist when I left Ford.
