Well getting ready to change the oil (dealer did first one free) I always ran Rotella in my 97 7.3 not sure with these new motors weather to stick with the 10w30 motorcraft or shift to 15-40 Rotella
Anyone running Rotella? If so any mileage changes? I may be adding a FS2500 to the mix to /

Let me know what you guys are using and if you see any mileage / performance changes.

Around here motorcraft is 26.00 for 5 qt bottle and Rotella is 18.00 a gallon.

Thanks

I run 5w-40 synthetic. I purchased a 55 gallon drum of it from a local oil supplier. And I ordered fuel and oil motorcraft filters from
Www.dieselfiltersonline.com
Saved a ton of money by buying it in bulk. I change oil every 5K and fuel every 10k. My motto is oil is cheap, motors are not.

If I was the op I would do the shell rotella T5 10w-30. it's comparable to the motorcraft 10w-30 but with a cheaper price ... At least around here that is

I use Rotella 15/40, change oil & filter @ 5000 in my 6.7. I've done this in all my diesels since 97. I think frequent oil changes are the life of any engine and not so much the brand or type of oil...jmo

whats the diference from 5-40 to 15-40 ? i was gonna use royal purple 15-40 .

It's a little thinner, I will run it over 15-40 just because of easier cold starts in the winter. I would say either weight would work for you.

15-40 is a lot thicker than 5w-40. Plus you can't get a synthetic in 15-40 I don't think.

Yea you can get a synthetic 15-40 from schaeffers, all of their oils are synthetic. The only difference is that the 9000 series oils are a little higher quality and cost more.

All we run is the schaeffers 5w-40. We have a rep that comes by and sells to us. I don't remember him ever saying anything about a synthetic 15-40. Guess I'm wrong though.

We run schaeffers in all of our customers trucks, as well as our powerstrokes, and the series 60 detroits in the charter buses.

No problems whatsoever

7000 series 15-40 is cheaper than the 9000 5-40 he is selling you. I'd have to look at a price sheet to get exact numbers....

9000 is pure synthetic
7000 is a synthetic blend
Not all of their products are 100% synthetic, it even says in the packaging. Paraffin base

Since the first oil change I've personally ran Rotella T6 5w 40 on my 2011! Truck only has 60k on it but haven't had a lick of problems! My coworker has the an 11 as well with 100k on it and runs T6 and hasn't had any problems so you might look into that.
