Those temperatures are not out of line for hot weather by any means. You need to fill out a signature so we know what you have.

75-100 over ambient in hot weather is considered normal. There was just a really good thread on here along the same lines.

The only coolers i have seen worth messing with is a 6.0....not 50 bucks, a trucool or a v10 cooler.

like i said earlier, i see 160-170 on a reg basis.. if want to help cool it a little without spending 50 bucks add a tq converter lock up switch. the tranny produces much more heat when the converter isnt locked up, having to do with fluid movement. so in non highway driving where the converter isnt locked with the comp you can do it yourself.

I'm running a 6.0 cooler and saw big difference in the temp after adding it. For the longest time I couldn't get it over 120* now with it being 100* everyday I see 170* on the gauge once in a while.

Just start looking in salvage yards for a 6.0 or other super dutys and pull one they will give you a good deal on. I have a place here that does not even inventory coolers as they find them not worth much. Charge between 30-45 for anyone you are willing to pull. Just picked up a v10 cooler in perfect condition for $30 there but I am using it as a fuel cooler on my return hose on the fuel system i just finished redoing instead.

What year 6.0 cooler is the one to buy to put in the 99-03 (7.3 trucks) . I'm looking for one to put in the wifes truck (01) that's getting a tranny built for it . I see Brian does those with his tranny builds if you want . Just wondering if some years were better than others .

They are not all identical. The 03-early 05 are larger than the late 05-07. The later ones are more efficient, so the result is the same with any 6.0L cooler.

I believe there is a 26-row cooler, and a 31-row cooler. The performance difference is negligible between the two, and the 26-row cooler is about $75-100 less than the 31-row cooler (at most places).

Want to see high temps? Come to Az and take a 13K lb toyhauler up 7-9 miles of 6% in temps of 100+. What you are running is absolutely nothing to worry about. I wouldn't want to see 250 especially if the fluid is not syn. Forget about it and spend your $$$$ on something you really need.
