Aluminum spool gun

Anyone have any experience with them? I was looking at buying a Spoolmate 100 for my Miller 180. I'm a fairly competent welder but I have never messed with aluminum before.

Same as running hard wire other then it needs to be way cleaner and the travel speed is faster.

You will need to get a bottle of argon sheilding gas as well as co2 will not work. spool guns are a.pain in the a** imho but im spoiled with our welders at work got python pushpull whips. The spoolmate is a quality piece they just take a bit of getting used too. welding aluminum is very different than mildsteel/ stainless. got to have your heat setting and wire speed perfect or it will wash out(too hot not enough speed) or not penetrate(higher speed/too cold). takes a bit of practice but is easily learned. i pesonally love welding aluminum over mild/stainless.
