Can stainless and mild steel be welded together? If so is there a special process or just start burning?

I have done it with my wire feed just regular flux core wire
it didn't need to be pretty

you can weld mild to stainless with regular steel wire, flux or hardwire you cant weld stainless to stainless as it wont hold over time.

i have a stainless work bench that is around 6 years old. welded it together with mild mig wire. beat the crap out of it all the time with no problems
but the weld will rust
