Well, I didn't get any help on figuring it out but I got one rigged up and towed a F450 210 miles.

How did it pull? Anything you would do different if you had todo it again?

I looked at a 08 truck that was 1000 miles away and thought about towing it the same way. Ended up not buying it but still was wondering if it would have worked.

Nice use of a tie wrap Lol

I might would add one more cross brace closer to the tongue but it looks good other than.

How's this play into actually being 'legal'? I'm interested in building something very very similar

It really sucked. But, I know I could of fixed it.

The drawbar is sleeved and has 2" side to side movement. Wasn't a good idea. Think that would of fixed most of my issues. And adding weight in the back of my truck would of helped.

Thought I would add a little update to this thread. I had to tow a X home yesterday with a blown motor. 90 total miles and it pulled way nicer then I would have thought. Heck I think it pulled better then being on a trailer. I was actually able to back it up my drive way thru my garage and into my back yard.
Here is my tow bar that I fab up sunday morning. Tried rigging up lights but i wasnt able to back feed into the X lights thru the trailer plug.

Yup and it will follow right behind you like a lost puppy dog.

I was actually able to back it up by drive way and thru my garage without any issues.

He welded two plates to the tubing, one on top and one on bottom the the front tow eye on the X. Them used a grade 8 bolt through the tow eye and both plates.
