The AC in my 05 smells like mildew when I cut it on. Could this be from condensation settling in the system? It seems to get progressively worse.

Also, it is only noticeable the first 30 seconds or so after the AC is turned on.

Oh thats condensation left in the system from last time you shut down.

I hit my vents with lysol last year. Cured that.

You will probably need to pull the casing to expose the evap and remove the mold/mildew from the core itself(depending on how bad the smell is). You can also try lysol in the air recirulation intake. I am sure you can get a kit of some sort from an autoparts store or online somewhere as well.

Mine gets this from time to time. The only thing that seems to cure it is clorox and water mixed 50/50 and sprayed into the intakes. If you do this get some kind of scented clorox otherwise it will smell like something died in your a/c.
