I just know only basic turbo stuff......

so basically the turbo only makes boost under load.....correct? At 70 mph unloaded, I show no boost, meaning to me, in layman's terms, that the natural intake is equal to or more than the turbo puts out. Right? Wrong?...??? The turbo is just sort of freewheeling???

So, if your turbo is making boost, for whatever reason........mileage starts to suck rapidly???. Obviously it takes fuel to make boost....right?

Then a turbo engine, only has a benefit over a naturally aspirated engine under load...........??????

Probably just 1st grade stuff, but this is stuff I think about and ponder.
So if a guy hauls or pulls nothing whatsoever, and just has a commuter truck, & other than the occasional "play time"..........a turbo is pretty much worthless then.....right?

Good Point, would like to know more about this as well.

Read some stuff in car forums about this. But, a turbo is a turbo...more or less.

Questions posed about why neutral revving builds no boost.......No load.

Load equals more fuel, more fuel means more exhaust pressure, more exhaust pressure = more boost.

What I still don't understand, is why a truck this heavy, doesn't build boost at highway speeds even unloaded? Which, I guess is a good thing, because as stated, it takes fuel to boost.

There are guys on here, I know understand this stuff, because I read their posts. I will never understand all of it, I guess because I have no patience

it takes more fuel to get us moving, but when we get up to speed, just like anything else, it takes very little fuel to keep us there, therefore, no fuel to create boost.

in a perfect world, you have zero boost at cruising. it means that your truck is not wasting fuel having to drive the turbo, its in its ideal state.
