Coworker brought in bent/broken cast aluminum electric motor mount for his pontoon boat. Thought maybe he could straighten it out and weld it up. I told him the view wasn't worth the climb.

So I decided to replicate it with some half inch T6 plate and some 2" square stock. Here is one of the poly inserts I made on the lathe. It sits inside the bored out 2" block. This will be in contact with the fiber reinforced shift the motors are attached to.

These will be welded to the half inch plate and then the inserts pressed in. Will post up a pic of the motor and mounting plate later today. Will need to preheat the fook out of this stuff in the oven as my machine only puts out 200 amps and I don't have any helium on hand right now. I also want to keep warpage to a minimum and this should help. May even transfer it to a hotplate so I can maintain the heat long enough to get it welded.
