Anyone ever done it themselfs? I see the kits on Flebay all the time, figured I could get one from one of the vendors and do it myself?

Not sure it needs rebuilt, pulling it tomorrow to check it out, but its made some strange noises the last month or so at 25-30# boost. Not every time, but from time to time.

Anyone got a used or older H2e I could borrow for a few weeks?

Replied...

Anyone know if there is a good turbo rebuilder here in the area? Anywhere from Pueblo to Denver?

I don't know of anyone local - never had the need... Elite, Rocky, or... Purple palace... ;) I will call a few friends see if they use someone local or not...

It may go back to Beans as well.

Who knows, may be nothing wrong, but strange turbo noises are not normal...LOL

Few pictures... Waiting for a video of wheel movement to upload but I have crappy service here at the house.

Have to wait on the video but...

The housing shows no sign of contact, no issues with the wheel other then that small nick on one blade. Looks like maybe a piece of welding slag from my intake tube or a small piece of dirt.

There is some side to side movement in the shaft, but I cant feel ANY in and out movement.

I cant recall how well the turbo spun by hand back when I put it on, so I have no idea if its ok or not.

I think if you spin them by hand when they are new they'll make one or two revolutions and then stop again. Thats how most of them are, even jb turbos, from my memory.

I didn't watch the video so....

Are you sure it was turbo noise? I had the exact same thing happen to my new gtx. I freaked. Turned out it was the alternator. It only happened at 3000rpms or so, and only under load. Coincidentally it was 30psi. I swear it sounded like a squeal in the turbo. I even called Jake about it. Turns out there's a tsb from ford about it.

Just a thought. ;)

Changing the parts in them is strait forward, only thing is its a good idea to have it balanced before going back in. I have the high rpm squeel on the sd I figured it was the turbo going since it has 200 k on it but I'm going to have to put the vibration monitor on the alternator now.

If there is no in and out play and spins freely then it sounds like its ok.

Look at boots and intake manifolds, any of those with a slight leak can make some funky noises.

Every thing looks tight right now. I may pull the whole thing this weekend and swap to the 19cm housing (since I have had it for about 3 years now...LOL)...

I need to build a leak tester again since mine is sitting at home. See if I dont have a leak somewhere.

I've always been a big fan of larger exhaust housings, they just seem to work better for me... I have been told by several people that I will love the housing, and just need to throw it on. Only issue is I am at 6-6500 feet right now...

19 cm housing, Matt's cam, ported heads, headers, on 35's and it starts to spool at 1900 and is lite at 2200 at sea level. If that helps your thought process.
