Anybody ever broken their e-brake cable? Mine went POP yesterday. Seems to have broken right behind the pedal. Haven't had a chance to rip into it yet, and my allergies have been kicking my ass, so I'm in no mood to go outside.

I have never done one. On my 99.5 I have the new cable and I will be attempting this one but have not gotten to it. I get my cables from the dealer. I think the trick will be if the pedal is pushed down or up position.

The trick is resetting the ratchet part of the mechanism to "relaxed" or "unloaded"

Be prepared to be there a while, and be prepared to cuss, swear and bleed.

Mine came up just fine when I pulled it up and pulled on the lever... or are you talking about while replacing it?

Turns out my cable broke right where it goes from one cable to two, on the frame rail. I'm also missing that metal piece now. :( Wonder what that'll cost. It also looks like my left E brake is sticking. Had to beat it with a hammer to get it in the relaxed position.
