Truck chirps and low speed

My 97 F-350 DRW (109k) is making a chirping sound at low speeds under load. I notice it the most when I am pulling a trailer, but it will do it empty starting from a stop and going up a hill. Does it in either forward or reverse. Don't really notice it after 15 mph. It sounds like it is coming from the rear end, but its tough to tell. Anyone have any ideas of what to do?

U joints maybe?

Jack the rear of the truck up put it in neutral and spin the tires by hand. See what you hear.

My money would be on a u joint also.and if it is replace them both cause if one it shot the other probably isn't far behind and replacing two at once is way quicker than one at a time

Good call on the u joints. The one next to the rear end is out. I will be replacing that tomorrow.

I use the Duralast Gold series I believe, from Autozone. From front to back on my truck. They seem to be really good and havent had any issues. Have also used them in the past on other vehicles.

I got the NAPA ones. I fixed it under the truck, but for future reference could I have pulled the front of the drive shaft off and not have had oil run out? (Truck is an auto)
