Battery light?

Two weeks ago my battery light came on so I checked my alternator and shure enough I was reading 11.9 volts. So I picked up a new one and a week later the light comes back on but its reading 14.2 at the back of the alternator and at the batteries. So now im stumped the light only comes on once in a while and it still checks good. Is there some kind of external regulator that im missing?

did u get a remanufactured one? I had the same prob and the "new" alternator was bad.

It is remanufactured but its puting out 14.1 -2 at the back of the alternator. Thats wqhat has me stumped.

Since it's sporadic, check your connectors and pins.

Mine was charging good but had diode problems. Got a brand new one not reman. It lasted about 1500 miles and crapped. The diode seems to be the biggest issues.

Well three alternators later and this one has held up for a week. Now I think my fuel pump is going:doh:
