Not sure if this is your problem but on my 04 sd mine was doing the same thing. If you tilted the steering wheel they would go out completly. I found a wire loose under the steering column cover, and when it moved it was loosing connection.

in my hours of reading common 6.0 problems for the 10th time in a couple months, i did however find a posting that it could be the tensioner assembly. hopefully thats not the only option....

I was leaning toward the loose connection thing for a while, but I thought it was under the hood. My motor has been in and out of my truck more times than a porn stars vibrator been in her pu$$y!

My mechanic just solved my dead battery issue. No lights flickering. Just dead battery. One day my batteries died. I had them charged then they died again. I was also experiencing a blown fuse each time before the batteries died. Fuse #45. It's a 10Amp fuse. I replaced the batteries and a new alternator. Still the problem persisted. The mech found a wire in the stealing column had been rubbing intermittently and shorting the fuse which is part of the charging system for the batteries. The wire that was shorting was from the tow button on the gear selector handle. But the short was in the column. Each time I moved the gear selector arm (automatic trans) it would move the wire. Sometimes shorting and sometime not. What a nightmare. I have a 2003 ford 6.0 diesel 2wd excursion.
