Is this reasonable??

My question is, is it reasonable for me to expect to be able to make 500Hp at the wheels with a 62mm non-VGT turbo (probably one that is waste gated, has a batmowheel, and probably a diverter valve as well) and 190s say with 100% nozzles??

I would say you would around 490 ish.

You'll be very happy with that setup, its what ill be running until I can throw an s474 in front of it. I'd like to see people running the 62 Bat to see how it runs, flows like a 64 spools like a 62...

A 62/65/70 wont really need a diverter valve, those things spool super quick as it sits, the .80 housing may need it though due to some say its laggy... tuning has come a long way now a days so it shouldn't be as much of a problem as it used to be.

He has a 64/71/.7/

The 71 exhaust wheel is big and laggy for daily driving/towing, its more of a competition turbo for the 6L imo

Some say it isn't bad with a .70 housing but I guess that all depends on what your interpretation of "isnt bad" is... I know Matt has a 64/71/70 with diverter and says it spools great.

A 64/68/70 may be a great combo, the 68 turbine wheel will spool quicker than the 71

Thanks for the replys guys. I thought about a 64mm turbo but I was/am under the impression that if I went with that, I wouldnt be able to tow my 12k lbs that I tow every so often and besides the 62 would be sweet should I ever decided to add a s475 or s474 down the road and if "super quick" spooling can be had with the 62 then that is where I am headed.

I am running a 62/65/.70 and love it. I ran it with stock injectors for a bit and was happy, but is definitely more fun with the 155's. Towing is very reasonable (10k+ enclosed car trailer across country). I don't think a 64 is a good choice if you want to tow. A 62 is plenty for a DD and still fun. IMO when you go bigger than a 62mm, your truck is becoming more of a toy than a work vehicle.

Well my truck is definitely more of a play toy than a work truck. In fact it is not a work truck at all but on select occasions when I tow upwards of 10-12K. So while i only occasionally tow, I still have to be able to tow if the need arises. If someone could, what makes the 64mm non-VGT turbos not suited for towing this sort of weight with 190 injectors? Is it because the EGTs will climb too high before the turbo lights to bring them back down??

Yeah i have the 64/71/70 non gated turbo. It runs and spools really good DD it. I really wouldn't recommend towing heavy with this turbo with the 71mm turbine wheel tho like Shawn said. Now if it had a 65mm wheel then it'd be tons better. If you have the fuel...then i think the 62/70 would make 500hp or at least very close. I just did 501hp, but my 190's only have 75% nozzles. I'd like to have 100% nozzles...it could fuel some more on the top end.
