Ford Called me with a Estimate what should I do?

Well as some of you may already know,

Sunday night my steering gear broke. Well also I was having issues with vibration when towing up hills and loss of power. So when my gear broke I had no choice I towed it to ford. The guy called me about 20 min ago and said..

The Steering gear is $720 parts and Labor, the gear is $455, but im going with the RedHead unit $357

He said Im getting low fuel pressure, and my ICP is bad $410, and my fuel pump is bad $825.

What do you guys think about this and these prices?

Do it all yourself and save some coinage. All of those problems are easy driveway repairs and should only take you a couple hours to complete all of it.

the ICP sensor is about $140 and easy to change yourself.

a Bosch fuel pump is about $150 and not bad to change yourself either

Do you have a part number for the sensor and fuel pump? is there any calibration after the change? and where are you ordering from?

If the truck runs fine, who's to say it needs anything but a steering box???

With those prices, the guy is clearly looking to rape someone. So why assume the parts are even broken in the first place?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

you could probally get reman or have the parts rebuilt cheaper than the brand ne parts that the dealer is going to put on.

Ya ford is looking to dik you down.. Everything is a simple install the only special tool you will need is the fuel fitting pliers other than that its all straight forward

Sounds like low fuel pressure by your description. Had a wire come loose on my obs efuel setup and act very similarly.

How to swap a steering box...

1. Remove box
2. Install new box

Complete...

Its not much harder then that.

Knock whats left of the shaft out of your pitman arm, then unhook the PS lines and steering wheel shaft from the box. Do not allow the steering wheel to turn or you will be replacing a clock spring too.

Reinstall new box in reverse order and enjoy... Nothing else to it.
