Hey guys. I’m searching for a 6.7 powerstroke. I want to find a cab and half, 8 foot bed. Base model with rubber floors and 4x4 shifter on the floor. I don’t need all the bells and whistles.

The price I’m looking to spend, 26-30k, from what I’ve seen for that price they have around 130k-155k on them. I really don’t want to get into a 2011 due to their turbos and exhaust valves. I have driven them, I plan to use it to tow firewood and my obs to the drag strip. The power is nice for a stock platform and pulling is really nice as well.

Any suggestions for things to look for on buying one of these with 150k on them? Today my work truck spit it’s front drive shaft out and along with the 20 other problems. I’m tired of working on chit! Want something I can jump in and go with no worries.

Thanks

There are a lot of trucks out there in your price range. If you're on Facebook, join the 6.7 Powerstroke classified page and shop away. Of course you have to weed through some BS. My '13 had a radiator issue and was replaced under warranty, have heard of others having radiator issues as well. Best of luck in your search.

I’ll check it out. I have read of people having rediator issuers.

Thanks!

If it is an early build '11 check for the recalls on the valves. If it is a late '11 should be fine. EGT valves should have been replaced by now.

Look for coolant leaks (radiator, coolant hoses, water pump, and turbo lines into the valley). Also watch idle hours; should be about 10% or less of total hours.

I think I’m going to pass on it. I appreciate the insight! Think I’m going to shoot for a 2015 or so instead.

Went and looked at it. Truck is very clean, one owner(50’s). I got the service records. No oil resin, no antifreeze leaks. Build date. 9/15/10...

That's an early build truck. Could very well have valve cracking issues and transmission valve body issues. Imo I would take the risk as most of those issues didn't show up until 150k + miles. You've got lots of time to enjoy it and put some miles on it

All I plan to do with the truck is tow firewood and my black one to the drag strip and the pulls. Probably tune ****** and if the turbo goes then I’ll upgrade that. As for the valve body in the transmission. Can that be easily changed like the e40d’s?

Its not a major deal to swap out. Only about 600 for a new OEM one too...
