Well never thought it would happen but myself and Morgan(Younger1993) are going to attempt a auto to ZF6 swap on my 6.4. Heres a pic of my truck we will be doing the work on:

Truck mods include studs, egr delete, airdog 2, frame mounted fuel cooler(needs to be installed), single turbo kit(from oneturboforme), s366(66/73/.91 w/ billet wheels from Matt), PMF traction blocks, stock fuel and tranny, gearhead tuned.

Donor truck is a 2008 F-250 standard that got rolled by the previous owner. I bought the cab, transmission, and related parts for 2k. Heres the pics:

Only parts left to purchase for swap is the rear main seal retainer and a clutch. Any questions, comments, concerns, or advice for the swap are welcome. Definitely have some questions for anyone familiar with the electrical/computer side of this swap.

I don't have a clue that would help you with the electrical connections, but this is an awesome swap....it is always nice to get a new gear jammed!!!!! Welcome to the few, the proud...handshakers.

Nice project. You've got a lot of work ahead of you and that's a great deal for all those parts.

Get a short shifter, you'll love it.

Why not use the stock fuel cooler?

It'll look a little funky just hanging there with a single

I know that it's a pretty straight forward swap behind a 7.3. Being that this is still a ford, I would imagine that it won't be to bad. With the right parts everything should bolt up, and plug and play!
Make sure to update the thread, I would like to see how the swap goes for you! Good luck!

Really good deal on the parts. Very interested to see how this comes out. I spent a lot of time digging for info and never found anything good. If I had found a deal like this a while back, it would have been a done deal. I actually never found anyone that actual made the swap.

I doubt this will help, but DP mag had an article for one of the trucks they sponsored for SEMA (last year). It was a Dodge Cummins and they swapped a ZF6 in...but it was manual to start with so their problems with the swap were mainly due to space issues, not electrical.

Haha we will see how it goes, once we figure out how to successfully make the electronics/PCM work I'd be down for doing another one, right now we just don't know what to expect, but that's why I bought the whole cab for the swap

Didn't buy a manual trans ECM? I'm not sure on differences but I do recall there being two separate ECM's IIRC. I believe MPD ran into issues with their 4r swap because factory ECM wasn't communicating with the transmission. Not sure what can be done to get around this but I believe their fix was a ECM for a manual transmission truck.
