What oil you guys running now?

What.....? The Synthetic oils 5W/40 don’t shear anything even close to 15W/40 natural oils that were spec’d for the 6.0 from conception. The entire engine benefits from the synthetic oils signuficantly. The injectors likely benefit the most from the 5W/40 since HEUI uses extremely precise injectors with fine oiling galleries and spool valves that excel with the lighter oils.

Only one reason Ford didn’t spec a 5W/40 oil............it didn’t exist in 2003.
Fellas oil has made the biggest advances ever over the last 20 years and last 10 have been the biggest advances.
Do some research on how oils have advanced and eliminated ash and acidic characteristics and all the flaws that came with natural oils when ran in engines.

Do you know why the ash count is lower in oil? Do you know why crank cases have less acid than before?

It's not the oil, it's the fuel.

ULSD, ultra low sulfur diesel, was introduced with a record low sulfur content. Every engine has blowby, when the blowby occurs and meets with the water vapor in the crank case, that forms sulfuric acid. They used to add a bunch of ash to oil, because the ash neutralized the sulfuric acid.

Well, every engine burns oil. You can reburn ash, so the ash would get "burned" with the oil and go into the exhaust, plugging the ***.

The fuel has less sulfur, which produces less sulfuric acid, so the oil has less ash to combat the acid, so the ***s get plugged up less. So really, it's the oil manufacturers trailing the fuel industry, their oil is tweaked to work with the fuel more so than the truck.

It has nothing to do with synthetics vs natural, they both have added ash, they both meet the same qualifications, synthetic is less affected by temp, and that's the biggest difference. Besides that, they do the same thing, have most of the same additives, etc.

It’s held in suspension far better then natural oil. Natural oil blends with the fuel as well as the exhaust.
EGR system is not good for the engine for several reasons but oil dilution is likely the worst aspect of it. The synthetics are not naturally going to blend with a petroleum or it’s hydrocarbons. Oil and fuel are both from the same oil so they will go back together flawlessly.
Also why rubbers are attacked by petroleum products and not typical with synthetic oils.

Synthetic oils are better and in pretty much in every aspect. It’s also different structured
molecules that get into the pores of the steel and provide better start up lubrication then the natural oil.

Engines have gotten better over last 30 years but the oils are why you see them going 400,000 miles today. The days of sludge piling up inside the engines are gone. I tore down thousands of engines in the 80’s when I was a machinest rebuilding them. 80K on a engine back then had significant wear on all the valve trane timing chains piston skirts and even some rings and cylinder bores were worn @ 80-100K.
Oil is so much better today and is a big factor in the engine reliability we enjoy today.

It’s your trucks your engines pour in what’s refined into oil regardless of where it’s from.
Or use synthetics that start from only highest quality petroleum’s and have the flaws engineered out. I like knowing I’m not draining my rubber o-rings out the drain plug over time too.
