Like the title says....if you have a SRW with a short bed that was converted to a flat-bed. Also, if you could post the SIZE, both length and width.

I am debating how big I can go (IE throw a 8 or even 9' Flat bed on) and what it would look like.

Thanks in advance, fellas.

Most standard flat beds for a long bed are 8.5ft in length. To put that bed on a short bed would look hideous. you would have alot of bed behind the rear axle, the gn hitch would be to far back, if the bed has one built in. If your using factory location on the frame for a gn then you would have to much bed hanging back there and would interfere when turning.

I'd keep it a short bed, which imho flatbed short beds look goofy. If you want a long bed, break out the plasma and welder and make your truck a real long bed.

I understand that, which is why I am looking for pics. Looks are less important to me than function, but like you said, a GN could be useless with the wrong bed. Either way, my stocker is JUNK, and needs to be replaced.

I may just throw a 8' flatbed on, and leave it or have it cut. But really, it wouldn't stick out any more than a few inches past the bumper with the short bed. Of course that would also depend on if it has a GN or not, and whether it had a metal or wood bed.

And I have seen some SRW-CCSBs that look GREAT with a flatbed, Byron's comes to mind:

Copied from the other forum...I liked the 02...it looked awesome to me. I really want to put a flatbed on the dually, I miss having one, and I crunched a bed rail the other night when I put the gooseneck into a ditch when I was turning out of a tight drive onto a narrow road...never had to worry about that with a flatbed.

Flatbeds are definitely nice and worth the money. I have no use for a short bed. My 550 has a 12ft bed and I'm already starting to run out of room.

Tom I have talked to Big Tex trailer salesmen here in Phoenix,AZ and they carry CM beds which are similar to the kind Byron had on his pickup. The measurements they gave me.along with a spec sheet says that the SRW SB is 7'x7' totally square bed. The SS model I have had my eyes on for about a year now is $1500 cash and carry with and to have it installed is about an extra $700 or so. They quoted me $2200 and some.change that included bed, labor, and parts needed for install.

Fyi I would cruise CL in OK,TX,KS,and the like where farming and ranching is a way of life, prolly see more pics there to give you a good idea. Byron you make me want the flatbed even more now! Nice truck bro...

Got one that has a good start. Its an OBS Long bed, But could be cut down fairly easy and modified fit.
