Stock Van turbine looks like half of it was hacked in half in comparison. Should make a killer 66mm turbo though.

Have about 1000 miles on this new turbo and it is working good. In fact I like it so much I have decided to build another one for my F350. This one will be a little different than the first. Starting out I will use a 68mm turbine instead of the 70mm. Thought about going 70mm and machining the housing out but I don't feel like shipping exhaust housings around. The second turbo is going into a "work and play" truck so spool is more important than the first turbo.

Planning on keeping stock injectors on this truck and tune it accordingly for towing and messing around. What I am wondering is if there would be any gain going to a 66/88mm compressor wheel over stock or would it actually be a loss? My thoughts are, machine out the compressor housing and backer, use one of the 11+0 66mm billet wheels. On the other hand I can just install a RR 4+4 60mm wheel and know it has the lightest wheel on the market. To me this seems like the best bet to have a fast spooling turbo but still have enough top end for towing etc. Planning on running the .84ar housing also.

Thanks

If you are keeping srock injectors then a drop in billet wheel makes a good towing combo

Decided to build another one of these turbos. Wasnt able to get another "beta test" turbine so I bought another at full price, $200. The truck it is going on is stock tuned, 4" down pipe. Bought another 9+0 billet wheel + 360 rebuild from eBay for $170. Total into this turbo is $370. It is funny, some people seem to get offended by messing with a stock turbo. Still happy with the first turbo, got an SCT tuner and it will clear up the highest setting. Plan on gauges soon to get some real numbers but am not too concerned.

Got to do some towing with my Excursion, the truck I built the first turbo for (70mm turbine). Hauled a 22ft bumper pull camper, with the SCT tune on tow. I really need to get some gauges to see where I am at on everything. Have a triple pod I may throw on it eventually. The 1.15 is a touch laggier than the .84 housing but once a load is put behind it, it really shines. Smoke free WOT merging onto the freeway, pulls through 3200rpm without that upper end choke the stock turbos always seem to have when towing. It loves the freeway.

Here is the second turbo. Made a full 4" straight pipe for it, love the whistle.
