You guys are way over complicating it. Single good pump and be done.
Walbro GSL392X is probably a favorite of mine. I’ve used multiple ones, supports 600+ hp, and costs $135 so carry a spare if you want. I’ve got multiple trucks running them, and two of them have over 70,000 miles on them.
No need to complicate it with switches, check valves, and lights.

So here's me thoughts I can see a possible problem with the fuel pressure activation. It could cause the pump to cycle on and off fast right if it picks the pressure up fast . Then it would kick off then pressure could drop fast then cause it to kick back on . Could this this cause a problem?

So I'm lean more to the boost activation using the autometer elite gauge as the in cab adjustabilit would be great plus running it through a on off on toggle switch so I could run the pump from the gauge or have completely off or run through keyed power as a manual on if I just needed even in a primary pump failure. Thoughts ?

Nothing wrong with a manual over ride switch. You can go the route of boost activation for the second pump. I do see one issue with that. You can have high fuel demand with low boost. Such as the moments you mash the pedal down and the turbo is not spooled up yet. I personally would tie the second pump on demand to the throttle pedal. Simple to do. Build a bracket and mount a lever style limit switch. You can adjust it so the second pump is activated once the pedal is pushed down far enough. Say for example 60 or 70% throttle. You can even use MFD on a scanner to fine tune switch position.

Well I ordered the boost gauge yesterday and got a one off on switch. So we will see . Maybe there want be a low pressure before boost . Is so I will go to pedal switch . Some say the one pump will handle 238/80 fine . So at that maybe at boost will it ever need the secondary. And I will have the manual over ride in the switch.

Looking good 78-79.... finished up mine a few weeks ago and opted to feed through rear of heads using Diesel Innovations high pressure fittings, replacing the banjo bolts in the end of the heads. Had to stretch the firewall, used hydraulic duck bill to make room of 90 degree elbows by Russel Performance along with their Stainless (covered) high pressure hose, Y block and fittings. Also installed RiffRaff high pressure banjo bolts on the front of the block, used the stock returns from heads to Aeromotive regulator. As Im still stock injectors running stock 7.3 e pump on frame with Donaldson P558000 water separator and Cat 1 R 750 spin on filters. Filters are same thread and size, common and great at filtering. Used stock fuel and return lines to block.
