Transmission help

Just put a new transmission in my truck take it for a spin and it won't shift up past second gear anybody know what could be causing this?

Did you make sure the shifter on the steering column and the gear selector on the side of the trans are selecting the same gears? You could be putting it in drive on the dash, but on the trans it's in second. That's my first thought.
