About to pull the trigger.. i have currently a 2001 F350 7.3 dually 2wd.. going to 4wd..love the leafsprings so sticking with the older set ups..
I have 2 axles to picking from..
Had a frame cut in half for all the brackets...found out it had a dually leveling kit all ready...2" i assume..

And have X code springs..hella high for starting

I have 5" blocks to help level it back out and poss give a little bit of rake back

Have a adjustable track bar too since this set up may give around 4" in the front

Need to get a drop thingy for the 2 pice driveshaft until i redo it with another trany and all

Who all has done this for real.. not on paper...want to know how bad the old coil buckets are to get off and any other hiccups

I just completed the conversion on my truck 7 months ago. It really isn't that bad. I used a grinder and ground the rivets out then used an air hammer with chisel to pry the coil buckets off. To install the axle took me 12 hours by myself. I took beer breaks every once in a while. The next day I put the blocks on the back. I drove it like this for 2 months before I had the Trans stripped down and rebuilt with the 4wd output shaft. The only new parts I bought were drive shafts and I got those from bronco graveyard. Everything else I got from a scrap yard and craigslist. I actually found an np273 transfer case for $75.00. I made a custom bracket to make it a manual shift. If you have help you could probably get it done in half the time. Good luck with it.

Awesome.. I'm hoping to have 2 buds help with the swap..

Since my dually is 2wd without rear blocks and my new front axle will have basically a 4"lift..I'm hoping that the 5"blocks in the rear will give it the small rake back..
Glad to hear it's really as straight forward as I've researched...
It may be a bit before I rip out the trans

But at least it will ride better

Totally forgot to update this.. was very straightforward.. took the day with me and friend,...and a few beers but completely bolts on other than having to plasma the rivets on the old coil buckets
