No eye contact, don't speak unless spoken to, eat fast or go hungry. Good luck....

Remember it's all a mind game. You may not be able to do some of the physical stuff they ask you to, and they know that. They're just trying to break you down mentally. Just keep your head on straight, remember it's a test and nothing personal.

Get used to referring to yourself in third person. Do everything you can to blend in, if you stand out you will be singled out. Keep your chin up and press on.

Iv never been to Jackson but from a few people I know they all say its pretty laid back there. Relaxin Jackson, just never say they were a drill Sgt can hear you. Everything these guys are saying is pretty spot on when going threw basic and AIT.

Good luck. From what I've been told, Basic has changed a lot in the last few years.

Too soft anymore. I went to Ft. Jackson in '96 and expected my experience to be like the first 30 minutes of Full Metal Jacket. Disappointingly not so. Expect to be let down by your fellow recruits many times....depending on your Drill Sergeants' preferred punishment (referred to as "getting smoked") you'll get good at push-ups or flutter-kicks. You will find out who the lazy people are and the people who refuse to do what they're supposed to and get a feel for how awful and unfair gender integration is.

Keep your chin up, do what is commanded, memorize your "bible", and you'll be fine. Stay awake during the day-long classes you'll have to endure too. Kitchen duty sucks. Watch for officers that will walk around for no other reason than to catch soldiers off-guard and miss a salute. You'll get "smoked" for that too.

Take care!

Hope you didn't forget your phone charger. Also don't forget your stress card and remember the cadre can't force you to do anything.
On PSN they still change their hpop oil
