Front main seal replacement

I’ve done some searching online and can’t find much info on replacing the front main seal. Any special tools or parts needed? How much of a pita is the job? Any help would be great

Some have a wear sleave or you can put a wear sheave on the front balancer

Ok what about buying the lpop cover with the gasket. Is that needed?

The Melling M208 oil pump comes with the cover and new seal. It wouldn’t hurt to change it all while you’re in there.

Man it's been so long that the only thing I recall about the job is to put a dab of rtv on the keyway when assembling

Lol well that helps a little. I found the riffraff instructions online. It just seems like a lot of specialty tools to rent

You need a harmonic balancer puller to get access to the pump.

All you should need is the balancer puller/installer. You can borrow/rent it from a local auto parts chain store for free most of the time. The rest is common tools unless your balancer is grooved.
