Default Dodge Cummins

I have been thinking about dodge & cummins.how many people have switched from,ford powerstroke to dodge cummins & regretted it.i know cummins is a good engine,just don't know about the rest of the truck.what do you know of that is better or worse of a dodge cummins compared to ford powerstroke.i like my truck it is a 97 obs.just wondering how the two would compare.thanks

i had a 2001 24v cummins u bought brand new and loved that truck. sold it in 03 and should have never sold it. That truck was bulletproof, close friend of mine bought the truck from me and to this day still has it and is an everyday driver. But i am not disappointed when i went with ford starting in 04 when i bought my 6.0, which is the worst engine out there diesel wise but i got lucky and had a 6.0 that was built on a "wednsday", great truck no issues. I especially love my new 6.7 and would not go back to dodge now for sure, the new dodges are a joke

Jumped from a 99 7.3 to a 07.5 6.7 cummins (similar hp) and I'll never go back

I had an 01 24 valve as a play truck. Definitely the easiest engine I've ever worked on. Had a blast with that truck. 100hp injectors, industrial injection pump, and for ****s and giggles no silencer ring in the turbo lol fun times. Unless you plan on doing some upgrades it will feel like a turd compared to a 7.3.

I had an '06 Quad Cab Short Box auto for a while and still miss it. Lookimg at jumping into a '17 this spring.

The interiors suck, and the front ends suck on the 2nd gens. From what ive seen, 3rd gens weren't MUCH better interior wise. I had a 4th gen 2015 service truck, got it brand new, within 10k miles the front diff cover was leaking, at 30k/1,2-1,300 hrs, the cat and *** clogged, and the bcm went bad, and the front end felt worn out from day 1. Otherwise, an okay truck. I REALLY liked the interior, better so than the newer fords.

The track bars are complete junk on 4th gens. My 2016 2500 feels way sloppier at 6k miles than my 2011 F250 ever felt.

Several years ago I went from a fairly decently modded 7.3 auto to an 07.5 6.7 cummins 6spd. I LOVED the way that truck pulled my trailer once it was deleeted with a tune. The interior wasn't great (compared to the Gen 4 trucks) but better than the early Gen 3s. I shouldn't have sold it honestly.

I've been back in a 7.3 for a few years, built and driven 6.0s and 6.4s. Of those two the 6.4 has been a towing machine.

But I'll tell you, we're in the process of selling the old 7.3 and my wife's 5.9 Cummins along with a couple project trucks and was wanting to get into a 6.7 ford. But we've been looking VERY hard at a Gen 4 6.7 cummins and honestly I see going that direction before the ford.
