I'm trying to put together a parts list to rebuild my 2012 F350 SRW rear diff with a TrueTrac and Rebuild kit that has Timken Bearings. Some sources say the 2011+ has a 35 spline 10.5" rear end and others say its a 31 spline 10.5? I have no clue which is correct. So can anyone verify for me 100% WTH is in my rear end.

I've attached the parts from Summit I was certain would fit but I'm really 2nd guessing myself. I verified the G2 rebuild kit does use Timken bearings but it says its for a 31 spline 10.5 while the TrueTrac says 35 spline? Any word of advice would be great.

I can't answer your question, but you can park on a slope and remove the axle shaft without leaking diff fluid and count the splines and measure the diameter.

that spline count discrepancy has been around for a long time

For the Ford 10.5", 2011 & Newer. This differential has a 37 spline pinion as opposed to the 31 spline pinion found in earlier model 10.5" diffs. I am pretty sure they are all 35 spline carriers though. Now axle length has changed but other than that I am not aware of any of this. I have rebuilt thousands of axles and swapped parts back and forth.

So basically the Pinion count doesn't matter whether its a 37 spline pinion 2011+ or an earlier 31 spline pinion when you buy a rebuild kit as long as the spline count on the carrier is correct?

So will that G2 Part #35-2046A (Which G2 says is for Ford 10.5s) will work on a 2011+ 37 spline pinion even though it says the kit is for a 31 spline pinion since both share a 35 spline carrier?

I will have to look at my setup b3arings and make sure the numbers are the same. Idk if i have sets of gears for both axles right now.

Pinion count will only matter if you are ordering a new gear set. All carriers are the same spline count for the 10.5 and 10.25 rear axles. I have put a 1995 10.25 carrier in a 2007 rear end I just had to get 10.5 carrier bearings to do this.

Yes from looking at my setup bearings I do not have a split for 31/37 spline pinions. So that means the bearings are the same and only the rear pinion seal is different. I have a note written in my setup box and part numbers written down for the pinion seals. I am very picky about setup bearing sets.

I actually already had 3.73s but I ended up getting new Yukon Gears while I was at it because the oem R&P were starting to wear uneven. But yes if I knew these drove this awesome I would of had one WAY sooner. Now I see why everyone recommended the TrueTrac. Im definitely very pleased with the results. I also used LE1605 from Jim for the rear diff oil too.

is the 10.5 different then the 10.25 for setup? I am trying to figure out why someone would need setup bearings on an axle that places the shims outside the bearings

It doesn't have any friction modifier in it since Eaton was very specific about making sure you don't use a friction additive when using the TrueTrac.
