When it leaks does it run down the oil pan? I'm doing some work too my truck and passenger side of oil pan is covered in oil. Truck has 275,000 miles.

Ya’ll are gonna think I’m nuts

But I cleaned the heck out of the area and used STEEL STICK all around the large nut
Then did a double coat of 2 part / metal epoxy over the whole thing...

It’s been two years now leak free.

Knock on wood

I tried several options that all eventually leaked. Ended up buying that overpriced adapter. It works but I swear, when I pull this engine, I'm gonna tig that hole shut with a port for the dipstick tube.

My old oil pan was rusting and bubbling so the CNC thing I think strictly diesel sells wouldn’t work for me. I cleaned it up, took 2 beer cans and cut them so they would lay flat, an entire tube of ultra black, and some self tapping screws. You can figure out how that went. Seemed to work for a couple years until I swapped that engine.

I thought about that myself.

Does anyone make an oil pan without the dipstick adapter bullsh*t ?

I thought the early 7.3 had the dipstick port in different location, but every oil pan I've seen is the same. Maybe I'm thinking IDI but I could have sworn it was early powerstroke.

Might just stick a sight glass in that hole and do away with the dipstick altogether.

Crawl under the truck to check the oil?

Nah…

I ended up using a new ford pan and the driven diesel adapter
Much better design but $$

Well most of us don't need the dipstick. "That oil stain is gettin smaller than a quarter, must be gettin a couple quarts low."

I thought your valve covers looked pretty trick so I did the same.
