Curious to know if anything changed year by year for the 17’-19’s?

And also any known issues by year 17-19?

Some of the early Job 1 2017 trucks did not receive the updated connecting rod design that most of the later 2017 trucks received and all 2018 and 2019 trucks have. The heads changed somehow in the 2018 trucks but the part number didn't change for the heads but the casting numbers did so that would signify some kind of possible change, I don't think it will affect any performance though. The picture below does a good job showing the major changes from 2017 to 2018.

Big one was The Limited Trim Super Duty was introduced for 2018.

From 2018 to 2019, the biggest change I know of is the change from Sony sound system to Bang & Olufsen sound system brand, and some new color options I believe. I don't think much else changed.

I'm hearing a lot of talk about the possibility of a 10-speed trans option for 2020. That's just hearsay right now though. It wouldn't surprise me though becaue the F150's and mustangs have 10-speed trans options already. So do some Chevy/GM trucks.

10 speed on gas or diesel model?

Anything wrong with the Sony speakers vs the B&O speakers?

Any known issues with any of the years that you know of?

I’m trying to decide what year to buy here soon

Like I said it's hearsay. I have no idea which model or if it's even going to happen. If you're considering an F250/F350/F450 at all, you need to do a diesel. The gas motor's are just slugs and inefficient compared to the diesel powerstroke and get worse fuel mileage.

It doesn't matter Sony vs B&O. B&O is a bit better relatively speaking.

There are no major issues I'm aware of, if any the 17's had the most issues just because it was the first year of the new body truck. If it were me, I'd buy a leftover 18 or new 19 personally.

Do you know the Build dates effected? I’d definitely want to watch out for those issues! Are they recalls yet?

Yeah I’d definitely go with a 6.7! I have a 2011 6.7 with nearly 300k miles and it’s been a great running truck with hardly anything ever going wrong

17s also have a tsb for water pumps, along with the 11-16s. Cant remember the build date on that, but it does get updated. Done quite a few here lately, probably 5 on 17s alone in the past month or so.

Some of the 17s have a fan clutch issue where they won’t kick in. Mine did dealer changed under warranty all has been good since.

Didn’t they do away with or lessen the torque reduction in the first couple gears in the 18+?

its not gone entirely

18+ trucks have greatly reduced torque management in the first two gears which makes them feel seat-of-the-pants quicker.

Copy. Thanks.

No problem. If I remember correctly, basically early 2016 manufacture date to Early/Mid 2017 Manufacture dates are Job 1 and then everything else after that was Job 2 which ended production in Late 2017, October 2017 I believe.

They were making 18' year models already in October 2017 I believe and that's when my truck was made. So I got an incredibly late 2017 model, it was one of the very last 2017 Job 2 trucks to be made for the year, so I basically got an 18' model that was still sold as a 2017. There were 2018 models on the dealer lots when I bought mine that had the same manufacture date as my truck, yet those were 18' models and mine was still a 17'. Beats me
