Been driving a 2002 7.3 extended cab for 4-5 years really love the truck it's only left me stranded once when the trans went out delivering a f350 crew cab dually I had sold. Put a trans in it and went on. Intended to keep the truck forever but we found out about 2 months ago my wife is pregnant with baby number 2 and anyone with an extended cab probably knows 2 car seats really doesn't fit. Knowing we're still open to expanding our family I decided it was time to build a crew cab "dream truck" and the wife wants an 08 or newer vehicle for reliability purposes (I diesel mechanic as a second job and have never had an 02 or older truck in the shop besides mine but I digress)
And after doing some buying and selling I came up with this ImageUploadedByTapatalk1451484069.569727.jpg
2000 f450 with a 7.3 2wd ran and drove but knocked for $1800. I was going to fix it and sell it to keep trading up but have decided if I'm pulling the motor I'm keeping the truck. The cab is rust free on bottom but has just a spot of surface rust on top of the cab where the headache rack rubbed at some point.
But since it wasn't an 08 or newer the wife wanted it gone. I convinced her to let me convert the front end and interior to 08 and she bought in to it.

I picked up this donor 111k mile 08 f250 6.4 4x4 extended cab for 3600 all the owner knew was motor is broke. Truck has a lot of rust due to living it's life in a rock quarry but fenders hood and dash are in pretty good shape. It has a manual shift transfer case which I wanted

Plan is 08 front end , 08 front axle(4:11 gears) and coil springs, 08 steering column and dash, doors, black leather seat covers from leatherseats.com, zf6, manual transfer case, rebuild the Dana 80 rear with 4.11 gears, regular dually bed, south bend clutch, 12v cummins p pump 400 ish hp and if there's room in the budget go to 5-600, bed line under the cab to prevent any future rust, sound deaden the interior, 40,20,40 seats in back, two seats in front with center console, repaint tuxedo black or the new ford dark blue, and maybe a set of dually rims if it fits the budget right now,

Deadline to have the truck running driving is June 1. May 16 is the due date. If I don't put a deadline on something I procrastinate it out and never finish it if it's my own project.

Not saying I wouldn't go that way but finding parts out of town with it might be hard to find. I do like the dt360 and hp potential but the other thing is i can't run it in any pulls due to it never coming back in a 1 ton or smaller truck

Transfercase and interior coming out for the build.
Thinking of using the auto gear shift leaver as my 4wd shifter since I'm using a manual and don't need the auto shifter.

Pulled the 08 front axle and spring pockets and radius arm brackets. Think I'm going to go single wheel now. I'm a SOTA OFFROAD dealer and I am wanting a set of novakane death metal 20x9

Pulled the dash
No luck finding a 12v or selling the bed off the gold truck.

My daily driver sold today. Looking like we're going to do a dt360 with a 5 speed and a devorced Kodiak 4500 transfercase.

I appreciate the link. I plan to use the trans already mounted to the dt360. Going to run the a-pump until I get the truck running and driving pick up some injectors then talk to a couple pump shops and discuss building the a-pump or go p-pump

Bought a s1754 that runs for 900. Just need to get it shipped up here.

Bed is off. Need an epic way to send off the 7.3 332k mile motor. Hmm we will get video of whatever we decide to do.

Dt360 should be here Tuesday or wendsday. Anyone that's familure with these motors have a shop they recommended for advice on turning this thing up. Plan to run stock pump for the first couple months of the build then go p7100 pump.
Would like to do valve springs, port the head, and head gasket( fire rings or stock gasket). Anyone know rpm that these motors need to be balanced? Not that I want a pro stock pulling tractor and spin it to the moon but I would like to rev it to 4K and not have to worry about destroying it if I get aggressive at a pull or drag strip.

Find anyone familiar with the DT466 and you will be golden. They are basically a smaller 466. I read up about them a while back and loved everything I read. Always wanted to put one in an older Super Duty with a manual transmission. They can take everything a B series Cummins can take and a whole lot more!
