Doing a lot of work to the internals of the injection put to increase reliability. Runaways are a lot more dangerous in drag racing and dan was concerned about failures inside the pump during the run. So we are micro blurring all moving parts and rebuilding the governor weights to make the thing run smooth and not surge.

We are also getting new nozzles made up run a tighter spray pattern. Dan thinks there is more power to me made with this change. Super excited to get it on the dyno.
What is the finish measurement you are shooting for?
Definitely interested in the nozzle refinements, as that could carry over to the street world!
We already have a butterfly air shut off with cables in cab and behind the car. And will be adding a fuel supply shut off. The issue isn't getting the motor shut down. Its the fact that I will probably be going close if not faster than 200mph when it happens and I cant shift into neutral when under power. So I have to get the motor shut down or I will keep going faster and faster. Very dangerous sport at this level.

Aannnd after going faster, you be still got to slow it down, lol.
All bs aside, that is a very real problem with a di compression engine!
Any way to base a fuel shutoff based on rpm, or fuel flow, or similar parameter? Something as simple as a flowmeter, pressure transducer, or similar? Completely independent of the driver, in addition to a manual shutdown. At 200 mph, with a -relatively-short track, that may be a margin of safety.:lookaround::shrug:

Our current nozzles are 5x.022 @160 degree spray. With 46* timing we were spraying well outside the bowl and possibly hitting the cylinder wall. Changing to 150 degree nozzle with the same flow specs. With 35-40* timing it should be just outside the bowl if my calculations are correct.

As for fuel shut off I'm going to be adding a 3 way valve to the fuel supply that will have an electric accuator and well as adding a accuator to the butterfliy and have a big kill switch by my parachute lever so I just have to hit it once and I'm right there by the parachutes. Currently my butterfly is on cable on the door x bars. This change will move everything to the same area and where I already have my hand at the end to pull the chutes.

I think I may have missed something somewhere. Isn't your engine block the CGI block that hypermax offers? If it is, are they able to be machined? I was under the impression that's why 6.7's couldn't be machined. Someone care to line me out? Not meant for a derail. Love what you guys are doing. Carry on

Yes it's cgi. No problems machining it.

Update! Took longer to get the pistons and block as we though it would.

Rotating assembly is at a race shop getting balanced then we have everything ready to go!

We were probably already pretty close if not right on 2k. Not really hunting for power just reliability. But I think some of the changes could possibly net a hundred hp or 2.
