I tried using the Ams 500. Did not ever work the way I wanted them to it just kept opening the gate until it was wide open and I've never needed one to fully open. Just dumps all the drive pressure and the turbos fall off. When you plumb the gate/regulator correctly you never need to mess with the regulator once you get it dialed in

I had a 1000 on an old cobra mustang I had that had twin 62s on it but that's a whole different setup. Worked well on that car though!

Well, I guess it’s probably time for an update to this thread...

My truck has been down a little while since I split the block in it driving to ATS’s Gauntlet Challenge last March lol. Glad it happened on the way and not in the competition lol.

Anyway, between traveling with Rudy’s trucks all last summer and the other crap I had going on, it took me forever to even get to a spot to mess with it. Nathannial and I had a shortblock put together for it early last may after we got back from UCC, and then it basically sat until I threw the motor in the truck in October. I was gone what seemed like a couple weekends or more a month between working on Rudy’s trucks and going to races, so that took a ton of my time. While it was down a good friend of mine had been begging to buy my old turbo set up out of it, and he finally talked me into it.

I love vgt stuff, always will, likely will have another vgt setup in something else too, but having 2 Big Precisions in a compound setup has always appealed to me... soooo, I decided that we’d go for a non vgt setup and see how it performs out here. I think with what we’ve learned and how far Tuning has come with these things it should work well. Since Nathannial moved out to Rudy’s, I had Mr. Corbin take my truck out to him right before I left for SEMA, and my original plan was to get out to start on it in November, but I didn’t end up getting out there til last month. I’ll be headed out next week again to get some progress made and hopefully in a few short weeks it’ll be all buttoned up and ready to jam again. I’m excited for the new setup; should have some cool stuff that no one else has yet!

Made some good progress this weekend on the truck! As always, Nathannial has been crushing it. Fab work is out of this world. I’m so happy with it! Got the up pipes and wastegates finished out, the downpipe is done. All my stainless to build the exhaust is there along with the titanium for all the charge piping. No intercooler boots on this thing anymore, so it’s all Vibrant HD clamps. Started on the charge piping before I left, and it’s going to be awesome! I also finished up the new fuel system, and I’m pretty proud of it. Turned out really well. I also got the suspension piece mostly finished - just need to weld on the new shock mounts in the rear. Coming together!

I’ll go back out right after Easter and hopefully we can finish it up!
