I'm starting a build on my new f250 platinum. I am planning a lift wheels and tires but it's still my daily commuter.
I've been bouncing back and forth between a 2 1/2" and 4" lift.
But I'm wondering if anyone is running 285/55 22's. They would seem to significantly lower the overall weight and mass of the wheel and tire package.
I'm thinking this would lower the impact to MPG's.
Any thoughts? Pics?

Here's a pic of my truck I just sold with 285/55r22s on a 22x10.5. Looked awesome and I loved the setup, had to trim a little to get them not to rub but if you're lifting your truck you should be good.

I had 285 55 22 on my old F150 with a leveling kit. On 22x9 oem Harley wheels. I really liked them and there was no other 22" tire that I wanted anywhere near the price I got them for.

Biggest drop in mpg is air under the truck. The higher you go, the worse your mpg's. I've got a 2.5" Carli on 18's with 35" tires, I average 14-15mpg, 90% city 10% blasting through the desert.

Type of tire helps too, the more aggressive the tread, the greater the mpg loss due to rolling resistance.

I'd say stick with a 2.5" level/lift and that tire size and you'll probably see 15-16mpg city. I don't count highway because speed has such a huge impact on these trucks, so results vary...
