Oil temp sensor

Alright I have a 04 4 door short bed with around 173k on it. The oil temp and coolant temps have always stayed real close untill last week I was driving an noticed my oil temp was like 218. Then it jumped to 240 back to 200 then to 170 and back to 210 and continued to jump around. Is it possible that my sensor is taking a crap?

Possibly wiring. It is right under the cac boot that likes to leak. Also for some reason there are a bunch of people out there trying to work on these that dont know how to unplug the temp sensors, sot the locking tab could be broken off as well.
