03 KAM code help

Hey guys my truck is an 03 with an EGR delete, studs and s turbo back exhaust. I just bought it and the guy wanted to keep the tuner. Now it's throwing KAM code. I have a buddy with a sct with the standard tunes on it he is going to sell me. Can I hook it up with those tunes until I get a custom tune or do I need a custom tune first?
