Cant get transfer case to go back into 2h

I have my 1990 f250 5 speed 7.3 idi in 4l right now and cant get it to go back into 2h what can i do or look for also i need help on how to tell if my clutchis out or what the deal is if i start it in gear it moves but if not it wont go in gear while running and wont move any help appreciated

your firewall is probably flexing not allowing you the full travel in your clutch pedal, there is an adjuster on the pedal, you can thread that out. Also get someone to watch your master cyl when you push in on the clutch, If it flexes abnormaly you need to reinforce the firewall (Ford has a bolt in reinforcement plate) once you fix that you should be able to get it back into 2h as well.

Worn out shift forks inside the transfercase. They have little nylon/ plastic bushings that wear out.

Would the shift forks also be the cause to why it wont move when its running cuz it wont go in gear even when i press in the clutch

good luck buddy, I fought that problem in my old IDI and many other older ford trucks that have come along :thumbup:

Yeah I had to do that plate on my truck. My bronco actually had it already.

That can cause the T-case to be partly engaged when you try to change ranges. Usually it just pops back into the old range you were in.

We have T-case overhaul kits with new shift fork bushings, seals and gaskets. Also replacement bushing and bearing kits, if anyone has T-case needs.
