12v power outlet on driver side

Is there any way to make that 12v outlet with the ciggerett lighter work with other electronics? I know it works at heating up the coil but I can't use my cell charger, gps, or radar detector in that outlet and that's the only one that's like that. Any ideas or tricks on how to make it useful?

What the hell I always just thought it was a blown fuse and thats why it wouldn't charge my phone.

Switch out from a lighter to a 12V socket.

My 2010 has it as a outlet and not a lighter. Cell charges just fine. I'd bet it would be an easy swap out to the outlet. BTW I have the power pedals as well.

My outlet has power. It will get the ciggerett lighter red hot but won't power up anything else
