Nice looking welds I really wish I had more time to really get my rig skills perfected unfortunately I just don't have the time

The 5.4 turbo kit is still my favorite

Do you back purge all you pipe welds? I'm just getting the hang of tig, we use a lot of ss at work and it's tricky. But they make for strong and pretty welds.

We purge everything at work but that is a food plant and you have to. I purge all of the piping I make.

That looks like a pretty sweet buggy. What are all the specs on it?

It's something I designed and built (well, myself and about five other guys) at school for the Society of Automotive Engineers Baja competition. By contest rules we're limited to a 10hp Briggs generator motor, but everything else is free game.
-CVT transmission
-2 speed final drive gearbox. 1 forward 1 reverse. Locked diff.
-Dual a-arm front 14" of suspension.
-4-link rear 14" of suspension.
Everything is built in house. We even cut our own gears this year.
Even with only 10hp to work with it will still chirp 25" tires on pavement with the CVT tuned properly. Weighed in at just a little north of 400 lbs, not including driver. Top speed is right around 30 mph.
Pretty fun little buggy. Even with only 2wd it will hold it's own on the trails against an ATV. Not much it can't go over/through.
We're doing a whole new chassis this summer, so the plan for the one you see in the pics is to slap a 700cc snowmobile engine in it and see what it does with some real power :D

With a new motor that sucker is going to be awesome! I've started studying some rock buggies and sxs's. With a little ingenuity you can build something that's almost unstoppable.

Yeah I'm excited to see what it can do with something other than a turd generator engine in it. I'm thinking with the low weight and 700cc's we should be able to outrun a 1000cc SxS once the CVT is tuned...at least in the bottom end.
I've got some CAD models I've been tinkering on for a bigger 2 seat buggy. Probably won't see anything come to fruition on that until I gradumicate and get a real job.
