Default VP44 performance

Need to discuss some performance expectations out of a 01 DUDGE. I hate working on these things as I'm not 100% on them.

Truck has performance injectors, assume 100hp, after market injection pump, 7 level edge tuner. It's got all the fuel it can handle, I'm trying to get the guy to go with a new charger to help clean up the smoke and actually put some power to the ground.

It's a rebuilt trans and i can bet it's a stock rebuild.

You can't do a brake torque if your life depended on it, actually, 1st gear is just all smoke and kinda low on power, 2nd is ok, it's bet to roll into and not just stab it.

Shouldn't this thing be a bit more powerful? Looks like there is a j hook on turbo as well... Kinda telling the guy his trans just isn't taking it and that's the issue, but stock turbo isn't helping.

The trans got up to 200F just beating it around the block which I think is insane.. says it overheats when he plows too...

Advice?

The few I've worked on had great power. Does he have a lift pump? J hook on the turbo???

Actually ran into this with a buddys truck. Buddys was a common rail though. Are there any codes, specifically cmp/ckp correllation or anything like that? His cam retainer was worn, causing it to push out of the tone wheel pick up basically. Sometimes it would run like a raped ape, sometimes it was a slow turd. He finally welded a nut to the front cover to push the cam back, as that seems to be what the $100 repair kits are, except aluminum, and never had an issue again.

I would think that combo would be right near 450hp. Ibe got a friend who has a similar setup but with a silver 62 and he put down 550 on the dyno. And he has a built trans by "dans transmission" over in gas city....or somewhere in the east side of state. What vp is he running?

Truck will not power brake because of torque management. It will only allow a certain rpm. A smarty is the only thing to turn it off.

Through the ECM, I do not think there is a bypass for the torque management. At least I never found one on my 24v. Soon as I put a smarty on I was able to turn it off
