That's not supposed to happen. That trailer probably has 300k miles on it, with the original wheel bearings still in place. You just can't force people to maintain their chit.

Am I reading that right? You're saying that the original wheel bearings on that trailer axle lasted 300,000 miles, yet you're complaining that people don't take care of their stuff?

I'm not sure what your expectations are, but I'd say that trailer was very well taken care of!

Correct. I'm talking never touched. Never repacked with grease, have had the spindle nut tightened maybe 3 times over those 300k....2 of those times by me over the past couple years. I'm just as shocked as you are that they lasted so long, but if it got maintained, maybe it wouldn't snap off like that.

So why didn't you repack the bearings when you tightened the nut?
