Last week I was pulling my camper and I get a P228F(Regulator Exceed Control Limits) and P0088(Fuel Rail Pressure Above Max Limit). I cleared the codes and all was well. Got to the destination, shut the truck off, restart, and code P0088 comes back.
Once the truck was running I was able to clear the code and it got us home. No change in difference between actual and desired fuel pressures. The next day driving to work I tried to clear the code but it kept coming back. Fast forward, new regulator installed and it is still throwing the P0088 code. See the photos below. Regulator that I pulled out - no rust but destroyed. New Regulator - for comparison Pulled the metering valve (Exergy MPROP) and it is fairly clean. The other side of the valve is super clean. Does anybody know what is going on here? Should I replace the fuel rail sensor or the metering valve? I don't want to run it long and destroy another regulator. Thanks!

The regulator is off of the fuel rail. The metering valve in the last photo is off of the pump. The last pump that went out had metal everywhere. This is a used pump but my new 15+HPFP arrvies today.

It's possible that the diverter within the rail is hitting the regulator. A new, warrantied, OEM rail was sent out by Pensacola Fuel Injection this morning.

When the old pump went out, did you have the entire fuel system replaced?

Yes, I replaced everything with OEM parts.

Pulled the hpfp and replaced it with a 15+ pump (was going to do that anyways). Replaced the fuel rail along with fuel pressure sensor and regulator. Fixed the issue.
I did not install the Exergy MPROP from my old pump but I will next weekend.
