anyone reading this, bear with me, as im typing and uploading pics as i go.

so i was bored today, and decided to replace my blend doors, as they were clicking, and really annoying me.

the one in the dash was time consuming, but easily changed.

the one under the dash was pretty quick, but a royal pita.

the one by the go pedal was just easy and quick.

so.

pics 1 and 2
under the power point on the left, and under the sync on the right, is two slots. stick a regular screw driver in there, and pry them gently out. disconnect wires, and set them on the dash, out of the way.

this gets you to pic 3, and the center panel.

i drew two arrows at the two screws that need removed. after removing them, its just held in with push-clips. pull the bottom out first, then work your way to the top. it looks like it will break, but it wont. after doing all the clips around the edges, i was left with the ones right over the radio. i slid a screw driver up alongside the radio and gently pryed out.

pic 4 is just the radio. remove the 4 screws, and gently pull out. unhook the wires and antenna, and set the radio out of the way.

pic 1 is the 7 of the 8 screws that hold the bottom of the airbag. the last one, i simply didn't get a good angle on. its another silver one, self explanatory.

pic 2 is a better shot

pic 3 is the passenger vent. grab the bottom and pull. this one will make your a$$hole pucker up, as your going to have to pull pretty hard. you might even hear some creaking of plastic. just pull harder. it will come off in one piece.

now, when you get in this deep, there is a cross over tube, that goes from the inside passenger vent, to the vent that you just pulled the cover off of. i forgot to get a picture of this tube, as i am not going to go re-disassemble the truck to get it. this tube does not need to come out, though you can if you want to, but you have to remove that vent cover to allow you to turn it. if you want to take it out, there is a screw way in deep all the way over by the right side of it, that needs to come out. i messed with it for about 5 mins and said fk it.

pic 4 looking inside the radio hole.

that cross over tube is attached on the left side by a little tab that the arrow is pointing to. the circle is pointing at where the bolt is located. this one does need to be removed. this will allow you to push that cross over tube up and back.

(i forgot this pic as well, but when you get in this far, it will make sense when you look at it.) then there is a piece of plastic that needs to come completely out. it is the one that is behind the vent to the right of the radio. there will need to be some aggression involved with the removal of this one. this piece will come out the airbag hole.

pic 5 is just a pic for reference of how the wires are there. two over that metal bar, two under it. i took this pic because i pulled those wires out and all the way over to the right, to the air bag hole, cuz when your attempting to remove that plastic piece, your going to pinch and pull on those wires and plugs if you leave them there.

my finger is holding, where the bottom of the plastic piece you removed attaches to.

pic 2
pull that back towards you, and it will expose the actuator. keep it pulled back, remove the two screws, pull it out, unhook it, and then reverse process to install the new one.

some side notes

pic 3
on the backside of my radio panel, there are ALOT of standard connectors. then there are two that look like this. you push the button down i labeled #1, then pull the grey handle over it and it will pull itself out.

pic 4
also, when installing the radio panel, i have a trailer brake controller, you need to slide the tab on the controller inside the slot.

this is the one under the dash. the screw outside closest to you will come off easily with a ratchet. the one in back needs done with a wrench. you jsut work it slowly. takes forever

when re-installing, put in the outside one first, to hold in the actuator.

take a pair of needle nose pliers and put in the back screw. without letting go, slide your wrench in there put it on it and get ready to turn it. set your pliers down, and pick up that regular screw driver, and use it to push the screw up while turning it with the wrench. it's a fker to start, but then it's just time consuming to finish screwing in.

plug it back in, and your done with that one.

the last one is to the right of the go pedal, on the side of the case. the main issues with this one, is simply getting YOURSELF in a position to get to it.

i'm 6'0, 250, with long arms, so laying on my back looking up under the dash, with the pedals in the way is what made this one difficult. once you figure out how to wedge yourself in, it's a breeze.

i snapped a few pics to show location. it's kinda hard to see behind the wiring, but i arrowed to it.

i figured it was a common enough problem, and when you have never been inside of a dash it can be a rather intimidating project to start.

that and there is always people asking where they are, how do you get to them, etc etc.

so, i showed everyone.

sticky if you want to.

Is this.what causes the either full heat or bukk-cold air? Our monterey has the same heater controls and radio. If you put the van on 90° it throws hellacious heat, 85° and you're getting cold air.

You are the man!!! When ever I put it on the top vents its blows out the defrost and the floor to instead of all out the top vents, and they always make that clicking noise.

Good to know, thanks. That's the part number I ordered. Got it online for $24 bucks, and yes, it's an oem part.

I just did mine. I found it easier to take almost all of the dash apart and pull out the horizontal vent tubes. This gave me really good access to the left and right blend doors. Thanks for posting the pics...very helpful.
