Hey guy I'm having problems with a 97. It will run ok for one minute and the next feels like it has no power like the turbo won't light. I ran some codes and it had memory codes of p0344 and p0236. Then I ran a test with the engine running and got a p0476. Also ran code with key on engine not running. And got p0605, p1278, and p1294. Can anyone tell me or help me with what is going on with this truck. Is the back pressure valve getting stuck and causing it not to have any power? Thanks for any help

Yes it has a miss when it acts up.some times sputers at idle. What should I do about those 2. Also what is the fix for the back pressure valve?

Valvecover harness is the likely issue for your miss.

Now my snap on tool won't finish the buzz test and the truck will barely run I'm stumped

Where did you get the harness from. The doorman ones are supposed to suck bad.

I would suggest ohming out the leads to the injectors then. Were you able to get the buzz test to go finally? Only other idea I can think of right off if I had one would be a quick IDM swap. A kinda rare occurance in water in the IDM.

Did you replace all 3 components when you did the work? You should have gotten new valve cover gaskets, harnesses that go under the valve covers, and engine side pigtails. If you did replace all 3, then I would check your solder connections on the pigtails. With getting #2 & #4 on the buzz test you might have knocked the injector connector loose when installing the valve covers. This is fairly common and might be the culprit.

I replaced the valve cover harness not the pig.tails. before I check anything out I had a 2 and 8 code as stated in op. Then I took valve cover off to check wires and connections and then got 2 and 6. Replaced the valve cover harness and then got 2 and 4. After that final buzz test my scanner wouldn't.let.me test it anymore I don't know what happened there. So u think try the pig tails coming from the valve cover harness to the injectors?

You can also rebuild the terminals on the outside with new shells, and terminals. They come in a kit form and I think IH sells them.

DTCs P1294 and P1293 indicate an open circuit exists on the high side circuit between the IDM and the injectors. The following table lists the circuits to inspect while performing these pinpoint tests, based on the DTC retrieved during the KOEO On-Demand and Injector Electrical Self Tests.

P1293 1087 (O) Right

AB11 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCs) P1271-P1278: CHECK FOR OPEN BETWEEN INJECTOR HIGH SIDE TO LOW SIDE AT VALVE COVER CONNECTOR
DTCs P1271-P1278 indicate a low side-to-high side open in the circuit between the IDM and the injector. The following table lists the circuits to inspect while performing these pinpoint tests, based on the DTC retrieved during the KOEO On-Demand or Injector Electrical Self Tests.
Note: If all of the DTCs associated with an entire bank are retrieved, the high side circuit is most likely open.
